From one loner to another...

It takes a strong person to 1) understand that they are an addict and 2) do something about it. Many years ago, a co-worker of mine (back in my radio broadcasting days) developed a meth habit. Everyone at the station tried to help him but we couldn't get through to him. It was only after he lost his job, wife, kids, and his teeth that he finally recognized he had a problem and was willing to change. Change has to come from the inside and, unfortunately, seems to happen only after hitting rock bottom, when the only remaining choice is life or death.

Good luck and keep the rubber to the road.

Hi ******...Thanks for reading...and sharing. Everyone has a different bottom of the barrel, and sometimes it's hard to recognise a problem when you are not that deep. For whatever reason, I apparently have been blessed with a shallow bottom. I too, was a "tweaker" 10 years ago. I got lucky and realised it, and was able to do something about it after hard years of abuse, with all my teeth, and no felonys. Alcohol is much harder for me, because it is much more of a social addiction, than other drugs have been. I am a very strong woman, with weak self-confidence at times...and a strong desire to fit in, yet stand out in a crowd. You know...we all just want to be somebody. I don't want to be that somebody who grows up to be 60, and no life other than the bar. Or worse yet, to be dead at 36 with only 4000 miles of my own carved road under my belt, Thanks for writing!

Do you mind if I post this in my blog- as anonymous?

Oh...and if you are the man reading this and looking for evidence to use against people I care about...you won't find any here! The only reason why I choose to make this side of myself so public...is to help myself work through some positive changes in my life, and if I can help someone else along the way...bonus!
